Well before Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, Aleck (as his family called him) was a curious boy, interested in how and why he was able to hear the world all around him. This in-depth look at the life and inspiration of the brilliant man who invented the telephone is sure to fire up the imaginations of young readers who question why and how things work.

After the rain comes down, the sun comes out and dries the puddles. But the water isn't gone. The heat from the sun has turned it into water vapor--it has evaporated. Eventually, this moisture in the air condenses to form new clouds. Soon the rain will fall again. Read DOWN COMES THE RAIN to find out all the ups and downpours of the water cycle!

It's a snowy, blowy wintry day--perfect for a yeti hunt.
Or so thinks big brother. His younger brother is not convinced. Questions abound: Have you ever seen a yeti? Is a yeti strong? How fast is a yeti? And who exactly is following whom?

On May 10, 1869, the final spike in North America's first transcontinental railroad was driven home at Promontory Summit, Utah. Illustrated with the author's carefully researched, evocative paintings, here is a great adventure story in the history of the American West--the day Charles Crocker staked $10,000 on the crews' ability to lay a world record ten miles of track in a single, Ten Mile Day.

BIO

Mary Ann Fraser  enjoys getting lost—in the wilderness, in the wilds of a book, or in a world of her own creation. She writes and illustrates for children of all ages with over seventy books to her credit. Mary Ann is a proud member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and a founding member of the Childrens’ Authors Network (CAN!). When she is not lost in a story, she is hiking and skiing the trails of Idaho, digging in the garden, or playing her hammered dulcimer and djembe drum (thankfully not at the same time).
